On March 6 and 8, The Hague Philharmonic, one of the Netherlands’ major symphony orchestras, will present their program “Made in the USA”. The program features the work of three American composers: Bernstein, one of the first American composers to receive worldwide acclaim, and Bartók and Dvorák, Eastern Europeans who emigrated to the US in the 1890s and 1940s respectively. The performance on the 6th will include a special collection of photos and letter fragments to evoke the image of European composers in a world of Indians, skyscrapers and the nostalgic longing for a destroyed homeland.
