On June 17th, Spui25, in cooperation the the UvA Faculty of Humanities, will host an evening on surveillance, security, and privacy organized around Laura Poitras’ documentary ‘Citizenfour’, about whistle-blower Edward Snowden. The documentary describes the rise of mass-surveillance and the dissenters who try to bring it to light. The evening will include a short introduction and screening, followed by a discussion.
Speakers will include Lonneke van der Velden, whose PhD research at the UvA is focused on digital surveillance, activism, and technology, Robin Celikates, Associate Professor of Political and Social Philosophy at the UvA, Beate Roessler, Professor of Philosophy and Ethics, and Bart van der Sloot, coordinator of the Amsterdam Platform for Privacy Research and PhD candidate at the Institute for Information Law.
