David SedarisDavid Sedaris came to the John Adams Institute to discuss his work Naked and Me Talk Pretty One Day. In America, Sedaris is seen as the modern master of the short story. This genre was shocked into new popularity with his collections Barrel Fever, Holiday on Ice, Naked and Me Talk Pretty One Day. Sedaris is a also popular commentator for National Public Radio and his essays have been frequently featured in the New Yorker and Esquire. Previously living in Paris, Me Talk Pretty One Day was inspired by his move to France and his attempts to learn French. Another important inspiration for Sedaris is his family. We meet them in his work: the scientific enigma of his father, who produced six children who share non of his interests; his hardcore rap-loving brother who cannot speak without swearing; and his sister Amy, who delights in calling her father and impersonating women seeking an affair with him.
